PET was chosen for entirely different reasons than JT.   
      
   PM Lester Pearson and his Cabinet had a very serious issue to deal with.   
   The winds of revolution were blowing through the Francophonie. Lester and the   
   Boys were afraid it would spread to Quebec. They decided to bring in a strong   
   Quebec intellectual to to attract young minds in Quebec towards Ottawa instead   
   the Francophonie.   
      
   First choice was a brilliant Quebec journalist named Andre Laundereau.   
   Unfortunately, Laundereau had an early heart attack. PET was their Plan B,   
   but it was conditional. He had to get married. Ever since PET and Jacques   
   Godbolt traveled the Chinese Wall together, there were persistent rumors   
   that he was gay. The Liberals found him a wife. A a supposedly chance   
   meeting was concocted with the Sinclair's daughter in Tahiti at Christmas. PET   
   took the bait and Lester & the Boys supported him over John Turner.   
      
   JT on the other hand was chosen because he was PET's son and because   
   he was attractive to women. So, there is no real reason for him to redo his   
   father's politics.
