I'm zero toerance no for phone spam -- it's gotten to be too darned much &
I'm registered with our National Do Not Call Rgistry, to boot!
I can have any call, even blocked numbers, traced by hitting *57 after the
caqll -- the info goes directly to our national police's call fraud &
harrassnent dept.
I noted a nwes item recently that my telco had been explicitly ordered to
block spam calls better. 9prolly source of the robocalls is Skype or such &
no way to prove who started it, especially as they use VPNs to bounce around
the world & back. . so they went to the next best way to stem the tide --
the telco accepting the calls & relaying the to me(& others). .
Our federal communications org has before fined a corp over $1bn(small
potatoes for Bell) for spamming. . . so everyone knows they have power &
authority & will use it!
> As for the BBS message, I figure once a month is sufficient.
I agree, especially considering the frequency of callers to Fido & the low
numbers. . . in 1,000+ posts a month, several of the ame ad might get lost,
but not in today's traffic. . .
Fido can be strict -- I & my comod once got over a billion people cut off
from Fidonet (all of Indian subcontinent--this was after multiple warnings to
all the nodes involved)

True story: Two of Canada's maajor psarties once merged to create a new
federal party called Canadian Reformn Alliance Party -- t hey lasted witrh
that name only long enough for one newspaoper issue & t he letters that came
in mocking the unintended(or was it a fiendisj way to get free publicity?)
acronym!
It's now called the Progressive Conservatives (PCs) & does okay in elections.

Reminds me of the story of a chuyrch that needed much money for repairing the
crumbling ceiling.
The pastor got in the pulpit & asked who would pledge $100, $200, & still the
town's richest old man sat unmoving.
Then a piece of plaster fell on his head & he stood up & proclaimed, "I
pledge $1,000!"
The pastor is thanking him whenm nother piece hits the old man square between
the eyebrows. He leapyt up & said, 'Make that $5,000!"
The pastor looked towards Heaven and prayed aloud, "Hit him again, Lord!"

Some have pointed out that John Lennon was shot soon after saying,
publically, that the Beatles were bigger than God.
Other caess like this. . .
Sometimes people call out to God, in mockery, to kill them, "if He can" &
nothing happens -- proof that God gives us grace & lovingkindness, while
remaining slow to anger.
John Lennon had much influence on millions, Jimmy Smith not so much, & lives
with the opoprtunity to repent of his sin & be accepted & reborn. . .
It's a lesson to me as a parent -- dont jump all over every 'sin' my son
does, but weigh out the harm & how I can use it as an object lesson instead
of an opportunity to punish (actually "discipline"; because only abusers
"punish")

One day, two guys Frank, and Bob, were out fishing. A funeral service passes
over the bridge they’re fishing by, and Bob takes off his hat and puts it
over his heart. He does this until the funeral service passes by.
Frank said, “Gee Bob, I didn’t know you had it in you!”
Bob replied, “It’s the least I could do. After all, I was married to her for
30 years.”

Q: What you get when four men go fishing and one comes back not catching
anything.
A: Three Men And A Baby.
I haven't fished in real life for years, but I have fished virtually for
lemon sharks by boat off the Florida Keys, & I think Great Whites &
Groupers(massive beasts -- best bait is half a tuna (~100lbs of bleeding
meat), but they were farther south. . .
in real life, as a kid went with my dad bar fishing for sockeye salmon, 10mi
drive, 30 minute hike through the woodfs on a trail only he could see, then
set ourselves up for a day of peace & quiet on the shore of the mighty Fraser
River!
Uaed to get our limit of 5 fish (15lbs+ sockeyes--the best meat on Earth)
Now it's $12 for an 8-10lb sockeye & only if you're friends with a First
Nations member (I have a courtesy cousin, but it's not worth the 10hour trip
to the coast for her, for an order of less than 100 fish, guaranteed)
Safeway is over $25/lb,. so nuts to that & double nuts to Atlantic(aka
farmed) salmon -- garbage meat!
I do love my sockeye, though. . . & miss it. . .
