But they entice me so much! The thing is, all of us have a sin nature...even after we have done "the one thing God requires"...to believe on The One He Has Sent (John 6:29, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Acts 16:31). But, as Christian Artist Amy Grant (she's now married to Vince Gill) noted years ago "we still wake up in the morning with body odor and bad breath". Never mind the call of nature...which you can't leave to the answering machine. SB> I must read that part of the Good Book again, because I am not certain SB> that's the correct phase....However, this is very good advice right now SB> in my life! SB> Especially on FidoNet! Admittedly, it's tempting to "do the wrong thing"...but in the long run, it's bad for you. I watched a sermon on a local church website last night (I'm praying about joining their fellowship), about "How Long Can You Hide Your Sin??". The scriptures note that "Your sin will surely find you out"... and besides, God knows the motives, words, thoughts, and deeds, as well as the perpetrator. In other words, you can't fool Him, and on Judgment Day, there will be "no question of guilt"...never mind that not even Perry Mason will be able to help them. The context for it was what King David did...committing adultery with Bathsheba, getting her pregnant. So, he had her husband, Uriah, sent off to the hottest part of the battle line, where he'd be killed. David thought that "he had gotten away with it", but God saw it all...and sent the prophet Nathan to "let the cat out of the bag". He told David a story about a pitiless rich man. When David said angrily "That man deserves to die!!", Nathan thundered "YOU ARE THAT MAN!!". David did repent and confess his sin, but he lost the child that he got out of wedlock, and his family and life were destroyed...not to mention that his kingdom was taken away from him. What a price to pay to enjoy "the pleasures of sin for a season". Admittedly, we don't like to hear about stuff like this, as it hurts our pride. But, pride was the first sin in the universe...and that's what caused Lucifer (originally the covering cherub) to deceive one third of the angelic realm in launching a coup-de-tat against The Lord Of Hosts. He and the fallen angels (demons) were cast out of Heaven forever. He hates our guts, and wants us all destroyed...whether they're Christians, Jews, or Gentiles. Our pride won't do any of us a bit of good in Hell... and if we had gotten what we deserved, we would've been stamped out of existence long ago. Daryl ... Life is fragile...handle with prayer. === MultiMail/Win v0.52 --- SBBSecho 3.14-Win32 * Origin: The Thunderbolt BBS - Little Rock, Arkansas (1:2320/33) SEEN-BY: 1/123 15/0 90/1 105/81 106/201 120/340 123/131 129/305 330 SEEN-BY: 129/331 153/7715 226/30 227/114 229/110 206 317 400 424 426 SEEN-BY: 229/700 240/5832 266/512 282/1038 301/1 317/3 320/219 322/757 SEEN-BY: 342/200 460/58 633/280 712/848 2320/33 105 PATH: 2320/33 229/426 |
