I suppose the copyright reach is circa 100 years at most from the cease of
the author. Afterwards it is public domain.
And in my honest opinion there are afterwards problems to determine which of
that version that exists (like from different copies accross) what is the real
original.
I saw someone adding a whole passages to existing classicals music. And then
if that gets favaorite to differentiate it from the real piece.

That is just my opinion
