   Darrick Guider, 39, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 10-   
   year-old girl and getting her pregnant.   
      
   The girl had moved in with a relative in June of 2014. Guider,   
   who was the relative’s boyfriend, also lived in the home.   
      
   According to WGN-TV, the victim told police:   
      
   One night, shortly after she moved into this home, she was   
   watching television upstairs in the relative’s room. She was   
   lying on the bed when the defendant came in. The defendant told   
   her that ‘this is how [you] make money.’” She then “tried to get   
   the relative’s attention by screaming, but the defendant put his   
   hand over her mouth.”   
      
   Guider then allegedly assaulted the girl.   
      
   In December, the victim approached her relative to say that   
   Guider had been “messing with her,” but the relative did not   
   believe her.   
      
   It was not until March, when another relative noticed that the   
   girl “appeared pregnant” that the relative took the victim to   
   the hospital, despite the fact that a pediatrician had   
   recommended a hospital visit in January.   
      
   At Mt. Sinai Hospital, doctors confirmed the pregnancy and told   
   the girl that she was due “at the end of May or the beginning of   
   June.”   
      
   If he is convicted, Guider will face up to 60 years in prison.
