   SAN DIEGO -- Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, defeated former Marine   
   Col. Doug Applegate, a Democrat, in his re-election bid,   
   although he trailed early in the San Diego County portion of the   
   49th Congressional District.   
      
   According to results from the California Secretary of State's   
   Office, Issa had 51.1 percent, to 48.9 percent for Applegate.   
   100 percent of the votes had been recorded in the district as of   
   Wednesday morning, which includes part of southern Orange County.
