Not just in job growth, but in getting to the bottom of what has been       crippling the housing market - and by extension - investment in the lower       mainland. Some companies were reluctant to headquarter in an area where their       employees would have had to pay        rocketing rent prices. Some workers had even moved away. The NDP government,       under the stewardship of John Horgan and his hard-working ministers, have       turned things around already - only two years into their mandate.              https://i.cbc.ca/1.5131232.1557506722!/fileImage/httpImage/image       jpg_gen/derivatives/original_780/unemployment-rates-by-province-april-2019.jpg              They've cracked the money-laundering being done by the Chinese through       casinos, horse-racing and luxury car and yacht sales.               Already house prices are down more than 20% in most areas and the rental       market just took in a great gulp air. Landlords have been forced to lower       rent prices and there are so many units now available that there are offers to       pay for a tenant to move in,        including the costs of packing for the move.              But the rest of the country had better take notice that the money laundering       was not confined to British Columbia alone . . . . apparently the $7.5       BILLION that was laundered in just the last year, 2018, ranked BC *fourth* for       the amount of money being        laundered in Canada . . . . .       ___________              According to Prof. Maloney’s report, commissioned by the Finance Minister to       examine the role of financial regulations, B.C. ranks fourth among Canada’s       regions for the amount of dirty money being laundered, behind Alberta, Ontario       and the Prairies.        The total amount of money laundered in Canada last year, her task force       estimates, exceeds $40-billion.       ___________              So, if you're not fortunate enough to have a New Democrat government in power       in your province, you might want to get one pretty damned quickly. Because it       seems that rightwing governments have a tendency to 'ignore the crime to make       the dime'. And if        you have a street drug problem, you have an extension of money laundering       crime.               https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-money-laundering-       n-bcs-real-estate-market-inflated-home-prices/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
