   into the big leagues, and it has worked amazingly well so far.   
      
   Most of the new energy giants began life in the hydrocarbon business – oil   
   and gas production, oil refining or coal-powered electricity generation.   
   They’re busy burying their hydrocarbon pasts and diving into solar, wind and   
   hydro power.
