They don't, they speak Canadian French. I picked up my "French" in Quebec when
I lived there for about 4 years. French people usually laugh at me as I speak
with Quebecois accent on top of my own accent. It is as if I were speaking in
the US with a mix of New Zealand and my mother tongue accent plus using tons
of Quebec specific words and expressions.
