Hello Rob!

** On Thursday 07.08.25 - 07:47, you wrote to me:

Yep.. you probably checked too late. :(

AA>> Yep.. Lucky still seems to disfavour existing (long-time)

Right, I don't understand this non-favoring towards existing
(long-time) customers.

RM> Lucky bugs me a bit because they never tell you when they bring

I find the app more responsive and easier to check and see if
there is an alternative plan available. I don't check for
other plans regularly either. But when the $29/mo plan rolled
out that was fluke timing when I decided to casually check for
plan prices in general.

AA>> Lucky recently dropped and USA calling from their base plans.

RM> Oh, I hadn't heard that yet either. I currently have no need for
RM> USA calling but it was a cheap bonus to upgrade from my $35 plan
RM> to the $40 plan which gave something like 80 Gig of data plus
 RM> unlimited USA.

Good to hear that they threw in the USA calling. It's not
available like that anymore. Now, it's a special add-on.

Speaking of USA-calling, I recently looked to sign up a senior
friend to NonameMobile. They advertised (and still do) a $19/
mo that includes USA-calling. So, I purchased the NonameMobile
SIM. But upon registration, the process sent me to PCMobile,
and there was *no* $19/mo plan! And.. and the lowest plan that
did include USA-calling as $29/mo! I felt very disappointed.
It's basically a bait 'n' switch - which is illegal, no?

RM> Yes, it's amazing when you think back. Back in the 90's
RM> when I had to call long distance to access a Global BBS it
RM> was always a rush to do the exchange and get off because I
RM> was paying about 45c a minute for the call.

I had a 3rd-party phone plan that offered unlimited LD minutes
for $20/mo. I polled a hub in Montreal from Ontario that way
to deliver and pick up email + echomail.

RM> In the past 5 years I've had Bell in twice because of noisy
RM> lines so it's not quite as bad as yours. Back when I was using
RM> dial-up that was a real problem though.

For me, the situation simply started getting worse and worse.
I have an underground feed from a pole on the property but then
it continues a fair distance (about 50ft) under the driveway to
the house and demarcation point.
