There is also the fact that since       it's completely unshielded the radiation is dispersed widely and has       been detected at every point on the Earth. The public is exposed to       this radiation nearly every day and it causes no end of cancers, burns       and even deaths. People have even taken to wearing radiation shielding       and limiting exposure as common practice. Sometimes you'll even find       the local papers or news channels publishing the maximum safe exposure       times before one will experience radiation burns.              > on the down side.       > No plans for decommissioning the fusion source has been agreed upon, at this       > time.       > Most people have came to the conclusion that we should just let it       > deplete it's self, until it ceases it's fusion operation.              Well, since it was put into service many years ago and folks generally       expect it to continue running for many more years, this is a something       we can leave in the hands of future generations.              > Good side of that is that the fusion source will become       > an ecologically friendly inert sphere of iron.       > Bad side is the source will grow to very large proportions       > just before it's operation ceases.              It is expected to cause some great ecological damage when it       runs out of fuel. The general opinion is that anyone in the       vicinity will not survive the process. The hope is that there       will be some form of evacuation plan by the time this happens.              Anthony              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
