   Hrm.  When my then five year old niece asked this question of me   
   twenty years ago, I just told her "well, it's like a battery that God   
   puts in your body, except it never runs out; God takes the battery and   
   puts it in a new body when you get too tired and worn out".  She   
   paused and then said "oh; ok", and then went off to watch tv.
