   Two schools of thought on that. I've read at least once that the whole purpose   
   of referring to Joseph as a carpenter was to infer that he was an   
   artist/craftsman of wood, or alternately a wealthy man who was in the building   
   trade. Alternately, there's the implication that he was a common labourer.   
      
      Mark 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary...   
      
   As with so much, its open to interpretation. And as they say in many SJG source   
   books, the GM decides what 'really' happened.
