XPost: alt.horror.cthulhu       From: invalid@address.com              > So did anybody ferret away any of this Jesus jerky when they had the chance,       > or is it really and truly all gone?       >       > -- Greg              An interesting question. It is the custom in the Catholic Church       to preserve the bones, skin, blood, and other body parts of the       saints. These quaint objects are known as relics. Where did this       custom originate? It was an imitation of the preservation of the       body of Jesus by the original disciples and their immediate followers.              The relics of saints are considered too precious and magical to       eat, nowadays, so maybe when Jesus was just a shadow of his former       self, the leaders of the early Church decided to preserve his       remaining remains, for their magical virtues, even though this       meant giving up the inclusion of powdered Christ in the Mass (the       secret, important Mass for the leaders, not the regular Mass for       the plebes of the Church -- I doubt the average Christian ever       tasted Jesus).              If this occurred, the remains of Jesus might have been preserved       for centuries, as the first relics of Christianity. It is even       possible that some of his body still exists, hidden away and       forgotten by the Church.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
