   Victoria, you're right, few, if any, posts to this newsgroup. I check it   
   occasionally, but rarely have reason to post.   
      
   I encountered your father on CCM, then made his acquaintance in real life   
   when I was briefly a staff wallah at NDHQ. He was something of an acquired   
   taste, as he was difficult to read when you could not see the facial   
   expressions to go with what he was writing. He was certainly good at   
   pointing out weaknesses in people's arguments and, frequently with a   
   justifiable perversity, winding up his interlocutors so that they would   
   reduce their arguments to the absurd.   
      
   Just a note, NDHQ has a "spook world" too: it refers to the defence   
   intelligence community and its associated occupations. They always have a   
   few people from operational occupations in the mix to keep them honest; I   
   suspect your dad was one of those.   
      
   I miss your father. He deserved to make much older bones.
