   You will have no luck with Veterans Affairs (the "veterans administration"   
   is part of the U.S. government) as it is bound by privacy. Have you asked   
   for your service file from the archives? If you were on the same course, his   
   name may be your course loading message.   
      
   You might just try "stalking" him through Facebook. Where was he from? Who   
   were his friends? In the latter case, think of a friend with an odd name and   
   do searches on that. I found my cubicle mate from CFRS course 7504 using   
   this approach--actually, I found his daughter, who "friended" me, then I did   
   the same to him several years later when he retired and joined Facebook. She   
   and he do tend to stand out in the crowd, however, since their given names   
   are Irish and Welsh--Meghan and Gary--and their family name is Armenian.
