"Fortunes In The Ground: Cobalt, Porcupine & Kirkland Lake" 1st Edition
   Hardcover Book

I have for sale the 1st edition, hardcover book "Fortunes In The Ground:
Cobalt, Porcupine & Kirkland Lake" by Micahel Barnes (1986).
The edition contains 263 pages including black and white photographs
profiling an appealing photographic record of the early days of mining in
   Northern Ontario.
   Front Jacket Excerpt:
"Northern Ontario was solely the preserve of prospectors, trappers and
native people in 1902 when the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway
began building from North Bay. When the line reached one hundred miles
north, silver was discovered in such rich deposits and quantity that the
new twon of Cobalt drew people from all over North America and Europe.
Within ten years two gold camps were established only a short distance to
the north and the region was confirmed as a major producer of precious
metals. This is the story of the three great mining camps of Cobalt,
Porcupine and Kirkland Lake. It not only relates the accounts of the
winners and losers in the great discoveries and tells of riches that were
won from the earth, but also includes the ordinary people who came and
   pioneered the north country."
The "Fortunes In The Ground: Cobalt, Porcupine & Kirkland Lake" 1st
edition, hardcover book is in MINT condition.
Price $25. plus postage (where applicable)

Please include your "postal mailing address" so I can calculate postage
costs to your destination. Thank you
