   But just to clarify your statement - you can use any DSL modem   
   regardless who your ISP is.  I have a Diamond Supra DSL modem with Bell   
   (I don't use the modem originally provided by Bell).  Note that with   
   Bell, you can't opt out them sending you a modem and forcing you to pay   
   the $4 or $5 monthly modem rental fee even if you do buy and use your   
   own modem.   
      
   As for cable modems, yes I believe that if your ISP is Rogers then you   
   can only use the modem they provide.  If the ISP is Tek Savvy then you   
   can buy your own cable modem (DOCSIS-3 is recommended over DOCSIS-2).
