Our government missed a golden       opportunity, to move all the stations to UHF, which would have made       the antenna end of things so much easier. Instead, we've got stuff       on VHF as well (it's hard to get an antenna with flat VHF response,       as well as cover UHF).              One problem with fancy antennas, is if your antenna is too directional,       you'll need a rotator. Someone one street over from me, has an       antenna with a rotator, and I've never seen it move off the original       vector :-) I haven't a clue what that means, as the stations we       can receive here, are oriented in two different preferred directions       (two antenna sites).              Considering the number of times I've had stations drop out, or stations       malfunction (TVO running a transmitter signal, with no program content :-) ),       I wouldn't want to rely on OTA for emergency broadcasting.              OTA - be careful what you wish for. If you're currently on cable,       and are thinking of OTA, by all means get your OTA gear and       test it. And when you see how it works, you'll be "hugging your       cable guy".               Paul              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
