    ... except that I'm sure the carriers will find other uses for that   
   bandwidth, leaving the bandwidth usage issue pretty much status quo. Or   
   more likely worse, since services on the 'net assume ever-increasing

    ... but they can broadcast it once and amplify it with broadband repeaters

   subscriber which chooses the channel(s) that need to be sent down the   
   subscriber's line. That sounds more expensive, not less.   
      
   It's the lack of grandfathered formats that makes the advantage.

   I seriously considered it until I added up the cost of switching to Bell's   
   internet service and adding monthly transfer allowances. I have since   
   realized that it would be cheaper to install a second phone line for Fibe   
   with mininal non-TV service and keeping my current ISP on the original phone   
   line. So Fibe maybe in the running again...
