Any ideas if Bell will increase my       > speed beyond the top-spec for VDSL1 and put me in VDSL2 territory?              Nop. If your provide says ADSL-1, then they give you the ADSL-1       "standard" speed. Don't expect this to be raised because 7mbps is about       the real limit for ADSL-1 (the specs say 8mbps down, 1mbps up, but I       think too few people are close enough to get 8mbps).              Check what type of ADSL your modem is allowed to negotiate. Bell       supports ADSL-1 , ADSL-2 and VDSL2+.              For VDSL2+ services, Bell requires you use their modem.              For services up to 16mbps and 1mbps up, you can use your own modem (and       it needs ADSL2+ compatibility for anything above 7mbps).              For the 25mbps and the 15mbps with 10mbps upload, you must be on a VDSL2       + profile and that requires the Cellpipe 7130 (I think Bell has a second       model for certain areas).              Currently, there is no way to legitimatly buy such a model on the market       in Canada.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
