   I, too, joined a protest march of sorts during my university days to protest   
   a government policy affecting tuition.  We disrupted traffic for the march,   
   made a bunch of noise, and listened to a couple of brief speeches at the end   
   of it.  To the best of my knowledge, we didn't break any windows, set   
   anything on fire, or throw anything at police or anyone else.

   Not hardly!  We were literally lending our faces to protest a point.  We   
   demanded our right to say our bit.  This bears no resemblance to what is   
   going on in Quebec (and, from what I hear on the news this morning, is   
   spreading to Ontario early next month.)  At best, the comments coming from   
   Quebec protesters illustrate that they don't understand that democracy does   
   not mean getting everything that you demand. At worst, these 'protests' have   
   become a magnet for thuggery of both the foolish adolescent and the serious   
   antisocial kinds.
