From: jfmezei.spamnot@vaxination.ca              Thanks for the explanations.              Yes, there is a charging circuit between the solar panel and the battery        as well as a protection ciircuit embedded in the battery pack. (ordered       from some custom place in california).              In terms of connectors, I have sellted on RCA jacks with well soldered       heavy duty wiring with the insudes filled with silocone. I have found       those to resist vibration very well. (and polarity is easy to manage       correctly).              I need about 7 switches to control the systemto give me the flxibility I       need to isolate parts and choose between running components directly       from the solar power or from the battery (wit power also coming from       solar charger).              But for the GPS, I want automatic switchover. On the other hand, having       automatic switchover for everything may also be desirable (am in the       process of designing the switches and wiring/connection between components).              My previous system was in one unit with a walkkan attached to it via       velco and connections via ribbon cable that came out the back of the       walkman. It ised NiMh batteries with no charge controller. So it was       easiler because with solar power directly into batteries and devices       drawing form that, it was automatic switch from solar to batteries.                     So, I got some model numbers, ANd I have seen documents that show how to       get device number/name from the colour bars.              But if I need a diode capable of 50v and 2amps, how do I convert this to       a part number ? Isi is a case of having to browse through spec sheets       until you find somethint that fits the bill and then get that part number ?              (or asking here and get suggested part numebgrs as Paul and others have       done).              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
