   Considering the reach curves, there's a good chance the OP has a remote   
   at the end of the street. That's what makes 7040 possible.

   My ADSL used to go all the way to the CO. Now, it only has to reach the   
   box at the end of the street (remote), and the wire run for that is   
   much shorter. Some other transmission standard, runs from the remote,   
   back to the CO.
