   With DHCP in what I assume is a router in that thing, you're   
   going to get a 192 address, whether the WAN side is working   
   or not. So while it proves the LAN side Ethernet cable is OK,   
   it says nothing about stuff on the WAN side.   
      
   As for the Bell/Teksavvy/trouble_ticket thing, welcome   
   to "arms length tech support". Bell does stupid things,   
   just to see the Teksavvy customers dance. Like sending   
   two work orders to the tech, telling him to unplug and   
   plug back in, a connection. When the two work orders   
   could have instead, just canceled one another. Perhaps   
   you got caught in that scenario ("I'm unplugging you now - Bye").   
      
   It took me a few days to get service back. I used   
   Freenet during the outage.
