    Senior SQL Server DBA - Ottawa - fulltime - immediate

   > Our client is currently seeking a Senior Database Administrator to serve

   > the DBA team, supporting SQL server systems and providing leadership in

   > form of mentorship to other team members.  This position will provide both   
   > direction and execution related to database design, support, and back-up   
   > recovery activities.

   > Your day to day:   
   >  - Database design - Providing guidance and expertise to Application   
   > Developers on how to modify code so databases will run optimally   
   >  - Work closely with application project and systems teams on all issues   
   > related to databases.   
   >  - Performance tuning - monitoring the server and making configuration   
   > changes to optimize as the environment grows.·   
   >  - Capacity planning and back-up/recovery activities·   
   >   
   >  - Lead research, planning and implementation of new database   
   > installations, upgrades and patches·   
   >  - Root cause analysis on database issues·   
   >  - Technical documentation relating to database management·   
   >   
   > Your credentials:   
   > Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related   
   > engineering discipline or equivalent experience.·   
   > - Minimum 5+ years of IT experience, including database design and   
   > implementation in a large scale environment.·   
   > - Demonstrated experience with systems administration and SQL (2000 and   
   > 2005)   
   > - Advanced knowledge of database concepts, performance tuning, proactive   
   > monitoring and problem solving·   
   > - Experience with high availability, standby, backup and recovery,   
   > re-indexing, database management, and partitioning·   
   > - Experience with database management, monitoring and tuning tools·   
   >   
   > - Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to interact   
   > with both internal and external customers   
   > - Performance Tuning - Monitoring server and configuring changes to   
   > optimize as the environment grows.   
   > - Should have clustering experience and have used SQL reporting services·
