   If you look at the numbers carefully, it is a horror story and shows the   
   depth of the governments debt/ponzi/bank fraud sceme that caused this   
   recession.   
      
   My guess is many now off the dole didn't find jobs. If they did, pay a   
   small fraction of what they used to make. Their benefits ran out for   
   others. The layoffs started in early to mid-2008 which means many benefits   
   are expiring. Say you got whacked on April 2008, and a severance, then   
   EI.... right about now you fall off the roles.   
      
   But then a segement unaccounted for are people not eligible for EI.   
      
   People need to get used to the idea that real no-BS unemployment is likely   
   closer to 15 or 20% and in some areas 30%. And for those working, few   
   raises and maybe even cutbacks as labour is cheap due to a surplus and no   
   competition.   
      
   I look at the bright side, government is slowly going bankrupt and will in   
   time force changes in out governance. Change isn't over, it is just   
   begining.
