|    TURMEL: Rene Ouellet offered No Prison f    |

From: johnturmel@yahoo.com              JCT: When Ray met Rene, he was being sentenced to 8 months in prison       for growing a couple of hundred plants. Rather than go to jail, he       chose to fire his lawyer and go on offence.              After going from Provincial to Superior back to Provincial to Superior       to Court of Appeal back to Provincial on his way back to Superior and       the Court of Appeal, the Crown offered him "No Jail Time" for a plea       to end it for everyone.              He was serving his motion to annul his re-option to come below and his       Charter Motion lest his case continue below. So if there is no deal,       if the judge doesn't annul, that's what they're facing in a trial.       After he challenges the "no annul" decision to the top.              Have to admit, the judges will love the Crown if he can get this pot       off the front burner and put an end to all discussion of their       judicial errors.              I told Rene to hang on for the same result as James Turner. James had       charges for growing 2,800 plants withdrawn. Rene will abandon his       claim for the Return of Controlled Substance in exchange for       withdrawal of charges. Crown can use same reasons as for Turner, not       worth the resources. But with so much leverage right now, and plenty       of time to still eventually take the deal, he's sticking for the same       as Turner. No guilty plea. We'll see what happens.              But imagine the feeling of hearing "no prison" after having been ready       to start the 8-month sentence deal his lawyer had gotten him.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
