TURMEL: Adrian Stuerm Released from Bord
   07 Jun 17 15:05:19

   From: johnturmel@yahoo.com

JCT: Adrian Stuerm who was sentenced to 6 months mandatory minimum for
growing 65 plants in his garage finally was released pending appeal
   today.

First problem: Quebec doesn't have any Inmate Appeal forms like
Ontario. So his Appeal papers had to be delivered to him in jail by
   his wife.

He filled them and faxed them to the court. When I checked later, the
Registry told me they didn't accept Notices of Appeal by fax, only
paper. I advised Adrian to break out of jail and deliver them as fast
as he could. Instead, he opted to mail them to his wife. But now he
had to wait until Friday canteen to buy the envolope and stamps.

When she got the papers later in the week, Ray filed them in Montreal.
Then came delay due to not including the transcript of the judgment.
But I'd asked in the motion to dispense with it. So when they realized
that, they slated his hearing for today.

Adrian says that it was quick and easy, Maxime Lacourciere from St-
Jerome was the Crown. We dealt with him in Ray's case. Nice guy. Knows
   what we can do.

So Adrian's still in jail as of 6pm but will be released some time
this evening. They always release prisoners late. I told Adrian to
make sure to take a picture. He's my fifth successful release pending
   appeal over the years.

Max Gauthier's trial is supposed to start on June 20 with his Quash
   Motion, then Charter Motion.
