|    TURMEL: Serendipitous Save on David Oldh    |

From: johnturmel@gmail.com              TURMEL: Serendipitous Save on David Oldham Permit Screw-Up              Health Canada Director Lessard told Federal Court in 2013"       "MMAR approved permits in under 4 weeks, renewals far less."       David Oldham applied and waited 4 weeks.              On Thursday June 28, he filed a Motion for interim relief       with waiting 4 weeks for his permit being too long.              On Friday June 29, Judge Brown nixed the motion given the       "short time."              On Tuesday July 3, I see a Facebook posting from David       mentioning how his motion had already been rejected "given       the short time."              A while back, Gustav Beland had filed a motion after 4.5       weeks and the judge had said the same thing. But before       Gustav could file a Letter asking the Court to find out a)       how long it takes, b) how many ahead of him, c) how long it       would take, Health Canada got his permit to him to mooten       any need to ask. And our chance to ask.              Now, with the judge saying 4 weeks is too short, I get       exactly the same chance for David, to ask how long is too       long.              But if they worked as fast as they did for Jeff Harris's       June 29 judgment, Director Michael McGuire would have mailed       David's permit out that evening to pull a Gustav by Tuesday.       But Jeff got his permit on Tuesday while David did not. I       saw David's post on Tuesday Facebook saying it had already       been dismissed but it didn't click what was at stake. I was       so busy chortling about having slipped Jeff's new motion in       under the wire before his permit had reached him that I       didn't notice another same play. So the earliest possible       delivery was Wednesday July 4.              By Wednesday, I'd realized that they might be pulling a       Gustav on David and I had missed my chance if it arrived       today. I'd have missed my second chance to find out how long       is too long if he got his permit.              But it wasn't in Wednesday's mail!!              Imagine the Great Canadian Gambler, the TajProfessor, being       caught smug about winning the Harris pot while dropping the       second one?              So Thursday July 5 David filed his letter asking the judge       how long is too long? when he should try again? And then       called Health Canada for a status report and was told it had       been issued and couriered to him on Tuesday July 3!              So why didn't it arrive on Wednesday? Why was it still in       the mail?              They had addressed it to his old address, not his new one!       and had to re-post it with a new Tracking Number! It's not       there yet but should be tomorrow.              I say I'm the best player in the world and Jeff's "under the       wire" wouldn't have been such fun if I'd missed David's. But       for serendipity to allow their screw-up to cancel my screw-       up in not reacting quicker.              Look at it from a professional gambler's point of view. I       could have raised the stakes but gave them a chance to scoop       the pot for free. I did not react as fast as necessary and       that other skilled player had me beaten... acted quicker       than I did.              Except I got lucky! A glitch on their end!! But I didn't       miss the next chance.              Quite the wild hand. And the pot (questions) still pending.       I almost let them pull a Gustav on him. But for incredible       luck, we now know it would have arrived Wednesday and been a       second Gustav!!!              Even the Great Canadian Gambler, TajProfessor can miss a       move! But neat how fate intervened to stop the mail reaching       David before I could recoup! Great story should be told. I       can fuck up too and I almost got laughed at for missing a       play I was chortling I'd used the day before with Jeff.       Saved from quite the embarrassment. With the questions still       in play.              DO: John, I'm calling CBC right now and letting them know       that a Turmel Kit saved my life.              Yes, beating his permit out of them in record-setting 5-       weeks time has to be some of the greatest fun David's ever       had. Shows that even losing a Turmel-Kit move can get their       attention and pay off!!              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
