|    TURMEL: Rogers TV threatens for unspecif    |

From: johnturmel@gmail.com              JCT: Get this. Rogers TV threatens to deny me my fair share       in the debate if I publish anything on the net that makes       them upset.              August 27, 2018              Mr. John Turmel       50 Brant Ave.       Brantford, ON N3T 3G7       johnturmel@yahoo.com              Dear Mr. Turmel:              In the coming weeks, Rogers tv will be providing coverage of       the City of Brantford's 2018 Ontario municipal election to       be held on Monday, October 22nd. Our coverage will feature       all-candidate debates, including a debate among all the       candidates vying for Mayor.              During the televised debates, candidates will be asked to       adhere to the following strict rules of conduct:        Candidates shall refrain from interrupting other       candidates during their time;        Candidates shall stick to their allotted time to answer       questions and will be cut off by the Moderator if they go       over;        Candidates will not be permitted to wear party pins or       display signage or symbols of any kind;              JCT: Rogers wants to follow the Tim Philp ruling about       candidate presentations. No symbols of any kind. That means       no party buttons. The last time I donned my LETS party       button, Tim Philp had the police arrest and remove me. I       complained to the CRTC and took it to the Supreme Court but       they ruled Rogers could dictate our appearance on their       show!               Swearing or disrespectful language of any kind will not       be tolerated; and        Rebuttals are granted at the discretion of the       Moderator.              JCT: Everyone used to get the chance to rebut but now       they've decided to let a censor decide.              Rogers tv makes every effort to include all registered       candidates as part of its election debates. Rogers tv       community channels operate in accordance with the CRTC's       Broadcasting Distribution Regulations, including subsection       30(5) which states: "If a licensee provides time on the       community channel in a licensed area during an election       period for the distribution of programming of a partisan       political character, the licensee shall allocate that time       on an equitable basis among all accredited political parties       and rival candidates.". However, the CRTC has confirmed on       multiple occasions that this provision does not apply to       debate programs. This is outlined in the CRTC's Guidelines       for TV and radio broadcasters and TV service providers       during an election. Furthermore, some of the election       debates broadcast on Rogers tv are community-produced access       programs and therefore Rogers tv has no influence over the       format of the debate and which candidates are included.              JCT: So if Rogers covers a show organized by some cheats who       want to favor some and exclude others, that's fine. In       olden days, every candidate had a right to equitable time       but if they find to act as the cheat for them, they can       cover the crooked show.              In either case, failure to respect the debate's rules of       conduct will lead to a candidate's exclusion or removal from       the event.              In the 2018 Ontario provincial election in June, you ran as       a candidate in the Brantford-Brant riding, representing the       Pauper Party of Ontario. During that campaign, you posted       what we deem to be highly offensive and inappropriate       misogynistic comments to your Google Group account       (alt.fan.john-turmel), including repeated comments       personally attacking- a Rogers tv employee.              JCT: They must be talking about the nasty lady who laughed       that I was being excluded from the debate. She can laugh at       me but my response upset them. Notice they can't even state       what comment I'm being accused of making, as if I'm going to       to back to check. But I'd bet it was the nasty laugher I       wasn't supposed to put down.              If you resume these attacks on social media, Rogers tv will       exercise its editorial discretion and exclude you from its       candidate debates. The safety and well-being of our       employees is of paramount importance to us and we cannot       tolerate this type of intimidation. I thought it important       to inform you of our intention in this regard.              JCT: Rogers will use its editorial discretion to rig the       election odds. Hey, they've been doing that all along. How       do they think laughing while excluding me looks to the       world. By the way, you'll notice that whatever comment I'd       made has been deleted!              Sincerely,       Julie Henson General Manager Rogers tv              JCT: So no more of what Julie Henson's crew deem to be       highly offensive and inappropriate misogynistic comments.       They laughed at them getting away with cheating me out of a       share of the time free time. How dare I me personally attack       the lady who laughed about them cheating me.              At least Julie can't say calling her and her crew cheats the       last time was mysogynistic. Unless they were all women and       they decided because it was all women who cheated me, I'm       mysogynistic?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
