i was out for a walk yesterday.  i crossed on a green light.  a driver turned   
   left towards me.  he was watching me the whole time.  we made eye contact.    
   yet he kept coming.  if i hadn't backed off he would have run me down.   
   my question is:  had i taken his plate number and called the police, what   
   would have happened.  i think it would have been my word against his.  unless   
   there was surveillance at that intersection.  what happened was a very serious   
   crime.
