   Chances are good that the cops didn't even bother to ID themselves when   
   they jumped the man.   
      
   If the cops were in civilian clothes as detectives, and they pulled up   
   to the man in an unmarked car and assaulted him as described, then the   
   man was within his rights to defend himself.   
      
   But cops in NJ, in a poor neighborhood, have every expectation that the   
   subjects, er, suspects will not be armed since NJ does not allow anyone   
   but the wealthy, the politically connected, and the famous to carry a gun.

   Maybe this cop 'at the wheel' shouldn't have had his foot up on the   
   dashboard.

   In the movies this would mean that this officer's body was taken over by   
   a demon...   
      
   This entire episode is pretty sad.  Let's hope that the two who were   
   killed were indeed the alleged bank robbers.  If not, two innocents will   
   have died and three cops will have been wounded for no reason.
