From: bo774@FreeNet.Carleton.CA              Unfortunately there has been a lot of Video coverage of Tweed       Ontario in recent days.              On thing that struck me about the exterior shots in the coverage       was how much bare ground and grass there was in most shots.              Coverage of the accused's neighbourhood showed no snow, in an open       treeless area.              Is that normal for Southern Ontario in the 1st week of February?              My wife went on a school related Summer trip to Ontario in the       1960s and remembers seeing ice floating in lakes in late June.              That was about the same time the Experimental Ice Ramming Tanker       Manhattan kept getting stuck in 20 meter ice ridges in 1969/Sep.              The USCG Ice Breaker Staten Island sent along as an escort had       engine trouble and couldn't even free itself from the heavy       pressure ridges. The CCGs John A. MacDonald which went along as       an uninvited and unwelcome escort saved the Manhattan from being       stuck all winter.              Manhattan limped into port on the Alaska North Shore with holes       in the outer hull big enough to drive a freight truck through.              It would have had no trouble navigating McClure-Parry any of the       past 3 Septembers. McClure - Parry was ice free in 2007 and 2008       September and got down to 50% coverage with thin, rotten, ice       in 2009 September.              What a change in 40 years. And still the denial goes on.       --       And still the denial goes on. Junk Science:= A term used by paid industry       PR Spin Doctors and front men. Translation: We want to hear junk that       sounds like science (but isn't) and which says our bosses can carry on       making gigabucks the same old way.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
