   True. And yet, try not giving your SIN to an employer because "you   
   won't make enough to have to pay taxes on it anyway"   
      
   It's not about the money that is made, simply that the banks are   
   required, by law, to report interest as taxable income. Since banks   
   like collecting SINs, you won't see them lobbying to change anything and   
   therefore the status quo continues.
