A bank would be obliged to allow you       to open a bank account without your SIN. But they will make you jump       through hoops and delays to achieve that. They can still send you tax       receipts, ut they will lack your SIN number of them, and the government       will get their copy without a SIN number. It is then up to you to ensure       you submit them in your filings. (and I assume the government has few       enough of such SIN-less records, that it can probably look up to whom       they belong.              Getting your credit history does not depend on your SIN number. They can       look it up with name etc, but it takes longer and can have some errors.              But even with sin number, the credit agencies still make mistakes. My       records indicated I had had a EATON's store card since before I was       born. (it ended up being my mother's). It was rather easy to convince       the banking paper pushers that this was an error.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
