It is expected (if not well known) that call display       > information is a joke and is of no use in determining the identity of       > those calling you.              It is of significance in establishing that the call is bogus. Real       buiness related callers are required by the CRTC to provide bona       fide caller ID data and identify themselves accurately. If they don't       they are some sort of law or regulation breaker and should be dealt       with in light of that fact.              Some of the criminal callers can be quite persistent.              One illegal caller kept trying around dinner time for a couple of weeks.              At one point I got rid of them quickly by asking if they understood that       they were calling a Canadian number. They hung up before I could get       far into my spiel about Canadian regulations.              Can I talk to the "man/woman of the house" was one of the signatures       of these repeat calls, until we started answering with "no, we don't       have one of those, bye".              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
