From: johnturmel@yahoo.com              TURMEL: Cop says: I smell pot! Show buddy's Exemption for smell!              JCT: Hearing a recent story about people having their cars       searched because a cop said "I smell pot" even when there       wasn't any has prompted me to proffer a MedPot Guerrilla       Tactic:              There was an an exemptee who gave everyone with whom he rode       a copy of his exemption so when they heard the dreaded "I       smell pot" after being stopped, they could say "Sure, here's       the license of the guy who rides around with me."              It's too easy for a cop to get into my car by lying with his       nose; I can't cross-examine his sense of smell.              But an exemption in the glove box would seem to be the ideal       protection! So I'm going to advise every exemptee to do all       your friends a favor and give them a copy of your exemption       so whenever I hear the dreaded "I smell pot" move, there is       an iron-clad alibi that keeps them out of my car.              It would be even better if I rode around with several       exemptees to have them all at hand.              I've just put my brother's exemption in my glove compartment       and will add Mike Spottiswood's and any other exemptee I       manage to get into my car. So don't just say: Good idea.       Make yourself 20 copies right now to hand out to those whom       you wish to protect from such unreasonable search and       seizure. And one for me when we meet.              I can't wait to hear the first reports on how far their       sense of smell will get them into your car when they're       faced with a legal right for the smell to be there.              Har har har har har har.
