   >CNN channel).

hmmm...don't get many T.O. radio spots over in BC, although I have
seen an occasional spot for one of the ''talk personalities" on CFRB
   (possibly) on the Weather Network.

I don't get Rogers Cable! Nope! I'm stuck with Shaw Cable and, you
know, when I watch CNN (around 9 pm, the time when Larry King Live
airs) I've seen countless spots for our "one and only" local TV
station. Can I rant? LOL! I've nearly had enough of one "particular"
station promo. This promo must surely have the worst, the most awful,
the most overly dramatic, the most pathetic, urgent "hussle-bustle big
city" sounding music bed you've ever heard...reminding us how vitally
important it is to watch their news hour show at 5, or to visit their
website for the latest conditions on this city's "one and only" bridge
with their almighty "bridge cam". Oh how I wish they'd finally build
another darned bridge just so that channel would promote something
else once in a while! oh well...sigh!

And, have you seen those spots selling the other cable channels
someone would like us to subscribe to? If so, and after you've seen
more than your share of them, they can get to a person's nerves after
a while too! grrrrr! But...what can you do? LOL Why would I want
to subscribe to more of their channels just to see MORE of those
commercials. Even Shaw Cable's preview channel shows some of the
channels you can subscribe to...and when you actually watch, all you
see previewed are channels with MORE commercials. sigh!

   > It's the repetition and the INCREASED AUDIO VOLUME that
   >has me muting the audio when they come on, or even changing the
   >channel.

I have to keep my remote handy too, so I know what you mean!

It's the increased audio volume on some of those channels that do me
in sometimes. I'm not sure which channel is the worst offender around
here but sometimes Discovery Channel has spots that are really loud.
TLC was bad at one time but I seldom view TLC anymore to see if
they're still loud or not. I think CTV NewsNet can be loud sometimes
   too.

I've also noticed something else (which I thought was strange) about
CTV NewsNet...sometimes they will take segments of their earlier
newscasts, compile them (with the same anchor person), then air the
combined video as though, what we're watching, were a new, up to date
newscast. It's too bad they screw up sometimes though...for example
they've been known to tell us a certain news story twice in a row
(although the wording in each story may be different). Or sometimes
they will return after airing commercials, air a brief newscast (maybe
a minute or two), go to commercials, do another brief newscast, and
then air commercials all over again (in a continual cycle). So, I'm
just sitting there wondering to myself, "what is this crap?" But none
of that has much to do with the issues you're addressing in your post
I suppose. Sorry to have mentioned it if you're offended by it.

   >There should be a law against it...

Sometimes I wish there was too!

I wonder if some of the commercials appear louder because of to the
way in which they've been produced, with equalizers and compressors,
and whatever other gadgets they've got laying around their studios.

Gee, I was just getting started, but...I' guess it would be best to
move on before the media gods around here "flame me" out of here!!!
LOL What a way to leave that would be...especially with this, my first
   post ever to can.media.radio.

End of grip! I hope I didn't scare "Some Guy" away! :/

Thanks for putting up with me. ;)

It sure is quiet around here but, anyway, carry on...
