From: garpal@shaw.ca              Hello All        I went to the 'dump' today...I felt like the Lone-a-Ranger....to the       dump the dump, the dump, dump, dump....ah, sorry about that...I do get       carried away some times.        In front of us was a trailer that had four perfectly good chairs in it.       Once I was inside the drop area, I approached (ran up to) the people in the       truck and told them about a new recycling ground roots effort that was       happening and that they did not have to throw those chairs away. Instead,       they could Freecycle them.        They looked at me wondering, I am sure, why the Lone-a-Ranger was there       in the dump! I myself was dump founded! They did not understand and neither       did I.        They did not know why I (the Lone-a-Ranger) was there and I could not       understand why they were throwing away four perfectly good chairs.        As a side note:        You all know where those chairs go, don't you....?        "Attention all you people in Cache Creek....there are four perfectly       good chairs on the way. Trust me, I saw them. Now, don't you take this       sitting down...at least not until the chairs arrive".        Well, anyway, I want to tell you all about this site:       http://freecycle.org        Sending four perfectly good chairs to a black hole in Cache Creek is, to       me, idiotic. Give them to the Sally Ann, a local charity, anyone who wants       them. Don't just waste them. Don't just send them to a black hole called a       land fill!        Could it be that there is standing room only, in Cache Creek? Is that       why the chairs are going there, to provide more seating? Well, I'll be!       Never thought of that until now.       Gary       PS: Freecycle is all across the States and Canada, Australia and...Ethiopia.       Ethiopia? Now that is not funny! http://www.freecycle.org              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
