I am not a member of any union. But my husband is....(his does not strike ,
or hasn't for mega years...but they have
been locked out) What i have seen in other
unions is not the fight for more wages..but to keep what they have.(a
   recent strike by Telus workers)

Now Teachers they are a breed of their own. They want to be classified as
   professionals.
And yet their union never backs other unions ever but want all other
   unions and public to
support them. They use our precious kids as ransom ....(collateral damage)
I personally do not know anyone who is a member of the teachers union.
When my kids were young I was about to cross their lines during one short
   strike, take my kids
to the school library and instruct them myself.
Sadly I never got the chance to demonstrate their right to an education,
   paid by our tax dollars.
And yet I believe unions have their place.
