Good idea about the MFRC. When our son was in Rwanda, Bosnia & Kosovar, we
   sent
food stuffs, including home baked cookies (in Pringles containers) and
   always via the Canada
Post Office on base. He was overseas only one Christmas, at which time they
   didn't charge for
the mail going to him. I did check each time to make sure we could send
   whatever we intended
to. Regs may have changed since he was last deployed, 1999-2000.

One thought too, for anyone sending store bought cookies (if still allowed
   to be posted) to troops.
The first time David was overseas, in Rwanda, in our first parcel we send
   several bags of
'Maple Leaf' cookies. He passed them out to orphaned children his unit was
   involved with. The
kids loved them and would flock to David each time he went near. When we
   asked him
if there was anything else he wanted us to send, he answered more Maple
   Leafs. He was
able to give some children in Bosnia the cookies too .. again they were a
   big hit, but David
told us the guys in his unit also kept asking him if he had any more and/or
   let them know when he
received more from home. [They are shaped like maple leaves and have a
   maple taste, as most of
you probably know.] Got the idea from my Mum, as she use to send them to me
   when I was living
in the UK .. cried the first time I opened a parcel from home and saw them.
