   Hello all
Movies! I want to see good movies.
Yes, I know that each of us have our preferences...I have found that the
young lad at the video story does not have the same interests that I do. And
because of that I donšt often ask for references from them. The younger folk
are focused on different things and what may be funny to them is, to me,
   not.
So to set the stage these are movies that I have enjoyed:

      1. 13 Days A movie set in the sixties about the Cuban crisis. We were
in France at that time and I saw the various tactics that were done by the
military from a juvenile perspective. I was a teenager with no experience to
draw on. When I watched the movie I was able to relate, to some small
degree. I heard later on from another teenager whošs Dad was junior to mine
some interesting stuff. He told me that on this one occasion my Dad came
over and knocked on their door, my Dad gave those particular orders that I
know nothing about and, according to my friend, his father went back to bed
after making all the appropriate responses. I guess that some of our
military personal did not view the danger that may have been there. It all
turned out well, I think. It does make me think about another movie that had
a similar response to lurking danger Tora, Tora, Tora
       2. Tora Tora Tora is an old movie about the attack by the Japanese on
Pearl Harborš. Itšs another war movie but I found it was almost an
historical account of the event. To me the success of the Americans, as
displayed in the movie, was by shear chance. Luck if you will. That battle
could have gone either way. To me the movie is a credit to the ones who
produced it. As far as I know it was accurate with no favoritism given to
   the Americans.
       3. Forest Gump - I heard about this movie before I watched it. Great
movie I was told. Yup. I didnšt know that Forest taught Elvis how to...
       4. Heaven Can Wait - a football love story....a fantasy, if you will...
       5. Midway another war movie that is a documentary but still a Œmovieš.
I canšt remember much about it as I confuse Tora Tora Tora with this one. It
may have been produced by the same company as TTT
       6. Saving Private Ryan the camaraderie of the men caught my attention.
Some scenes I found frightful. The scene of in hand to hand combat in the
upstairs room bothered me for some time. But that is war, not a nice thing
   for anyone.
       7. Jerry Maguire - now this man has a problems. He starts off strong
because of his ability do do certain things and then, his conscience gets in
the way and creates problems. I related well to the bathroom scene, he
persisted and achieved the results he wanted in spite of his desire to throw
in the towel. The comment by the football player I found interesting: "You
think we are fighting and I think we are finally talking". Wow.
       8. I'm thinking about what I should include here....

I may have more but let me know what you think about the above and make some
suggestions, if you so choose. I like movies that have 'meat' and a story
line. Hokey, I don't appreciate. But then I am willing to learn and just
   what is 'hokey'?
   Cheers,
   Gary
