   I watched the movie just a couple of months ago, on History Channel(?),   
   and I remember laughing to myself at the time--"So THAT'S why I never   
   see this movie on TV".  Never knew there was an altered version, but it   
   makes sense.   
      
   Another classic war movie, which I own--I like it so much, is   
   "The Train", with Burt Lancaster.
