From: cblais1@shaw.ca              Thanks Rasta! I'll send to them for the information and let you know the       outcome.              You are so right about not going to see the doctor or reporting       injuries/illness that happen on the job - a lesson we could all learn from -       Dad had impaired use of his hands in the last years of his life due to Carpo       Tunnel syndrome - which would have been directly related to his work as a       technition but I'm sure never saw anyone for this during his working career       and never would have thought of applying for a pension for it either.              Those friends that you were talking about who got the pensions - were even       luckier than you probably realized at the time - not only were their hearing       aids paid for etc. - but being in receipt of even the smallest of pensions -       would automatically qualify them for any medical equipment they need to       maintain their independance as they get older - even if it is not related to       their hearing loss - for example if Dad had managed to get his hearing test       and qualify - and if he had returned home - they would have paid for the       installation of grab bars etc in his bathroom and a wheel chair and       prosthetics etc. (he had first one leg and then the other removed one below       the knee and one above in the last 5 months of his life) and would have paid       the cost of transportation to medical appointments dialysis etc. home       nursing assistance with bathing etc. Plus anyone in receipt of a pension       has their full funeral costs covered including a marker if they are buried -       not just the $3,600. max allowed by Last Post (if you qualify). Many people       don't know this and are shorting themselves of benefits that could really       assist their families and themselves and make life a lot easier and increase       the quality of their lives - so encourage them to educate themselves - hind       sight is no benefit to anyone in these kinds of situaitons.              "> >       > >       > >       >       >              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
