From: cblais1@shaw.ca              Thanks Chris for the condolences - surprising how much they mean at the time       of a loss of a loved one.              It's not so much the staff at the DVA - they were actually pretty good -       it's the guidelines they work within - fairly unrealistic for these days and       times - not a lot they can do about it though - so they have some of my       sympathy - and in Dad's case they could approve the contractor to go out and       do the hearing tests - which they did - but they can't make them actually do       them. Not having them done meant that although his application was in fully       two months before he died - he never could qualify. Moot point for him at       this point - but would have been very nice for his wife - who would have       been able to receive whatever pension (even a small one) for a year after       his passing - and would have fully covered his funeral expenses and so left       their bank account a little more intact. She's not destitute but at times       like these every little bit helps.              Claire              "C Charland" |
