Know the photos       weren't there then. Although my Dad's photo is! Good one too.              > When I went through Cornwallis, it was supposed to be 11 weeks of Basic       > Training. Obviously it wasn't the same year you       were there ... you would have said if so.       NET (RCN basic training) use to be 16 weeks for the guys; 9 weeks for       Wrens. We _ did not _ call it boot camp!!!! That is a USian expression.              > For one of my Trade Courses, we had T-Shirts made, "Success without       > college" and the creator of the image collected from the class, so we all       > had the TeeShirts in time for a Course photo. No       such thing as any piece of clothing with Cornwallis on it either.       Zilch. No way would we have been allowed to get our own and pose for _ any       _ 'official' photo. #1s only, not even every day #2s. I did my RP1s at the       Admin building in Stad, part of which was spent in the Tactical Trainer,       Weapons, Engineering & Warfare Schools, with several trips (0600-2200h only,       each time - and only that Wren's trade got to do so) aboard ship. Then some       of us were drafted to CFMWS (Warfare School) for OJT. After OJT, I was       drafted to CFMWS.       >       > This was the only class photo, where there were T-shirts, and one old       > cranky Chief quickly removed it from the file, so it would not be mounted       > on the wall. In the RCN the photo wouldn't have been       taken to begin with! I'm old school I guess .. reared on the history and       traditions of 'Nelson's Navy' .. so that would have been totally against my       beliefs of what the RCN stood for.              wrcn       ... every good girl loves a sailor ...              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
