It sure hasn't been dry in June in Ottawa this year. The weather
forecaster said that we'd had one day with no rain out of 23 on
Monday. There's still more rain (thundershowers, mostly) in the
forecast for the rest of this week - and then we're into July.

Yes and I am getting so fed up with all the rain down here on the Lake too.
Two months and we're back into fall .. has been a terrible spring ... and
whole month of June. Just hang a wash out, then have to rush to get it back
   in, half dry.

On the bonus side, I haven't had to run my air conditioner much.
It's been too cool for that.

Never use one ... I like the heat!! The hotter, the better for me!

Oh why did my ancestors come north? I'd have been very happy to be born on
St. Maarten, in The Caymans (my cousin was smart ... she married a guy who
is from there .. so now they live there year 'round! ) or Barbados ....
someplace similar ... but no ... our lot thought "Canada" sounded better.
[Thankfully it wasn't one of "the other two".] Majority didn't get free
and/or cheap land, so that wasn't why they came here. Those two lots were
hired for specific jobs in Bedford NS in 1855 & 1887 and stayed!

If I sold my condo in Ottawa, I could buy a house free and clear in
St. John, NB, but prices in Halifax aren't much lower than Ottawa.
Rasta's area might have lower prices - he's a bit outside town limits.
I was surprised to see how little difference there was - friends keep
telling me that real estate in NS and NB is a bargain.

We were down home just a couple of weeks ago ... Bedford / Lower Sackville.
We were looking for another piece of land or 'somewhere' to put our trailer,
so were checking out real estate mags/booklets etc, also at the properties
shown on TV. We noticed house / land prices had risen by a significant
amount. Some are quite shocking! The house my aunt and uncle bought just
3y ago for $164,000. is now worth approx. (so they were told by an agent)
$230,000. It's located just off the Old Sackville Road, near the Beaverbank
Rd. Last year we got 10 times more than what we paid for our property near
Little Harbour (Eastern shore, near Ship Harbour - 200 ft on Little Harbour
& 200 ft with sandy beach on the Clam Harbour side). Bought 18 years ago.
There are some bargins, but you sure have to look for them, but well away
from the Metro area ... at least from what we could see.
