   Hi all,   
   My name's Meagan Campbell, a journalist with Maclean's magazine, and I'm   
   writing an article about personal finances in the military. I understand that   
   members of the Forces sometimes apply for Military Families Fund Grants in   
   times of financial need,    
   such as to fix a vehicle or have their child tutored. It seems that lump sum   
   payments or low salaries can sometimes leave members of the Forces in   
   difficult financial situations, where they might not be able to afford even   
   the basics. I'm wondering if    
   anyone has personal experience with this or know of anyone else who does--I   
   would not need to use identifying information but would like to bring this   
   issue to light in hopes that it could lead to solutions.
