Sherman says...              > >Let's try this again - how is China sending up a lifeboat to one of its       > >own ships a humiliation of US privatized space industry? Because what       > >you cited is a humiliation of **NASA** (ie your government) and a success of       > >private space industry.       >       > Here's a hint:       > What is the meaning of the first word in "Boeing Starliner"?              Here's a hint, dork: Boeing works FOR **NASA**... a GOVERNMENT entity.              The Apollo boosters and modules were built by several companies and       organizations, primarily in the United States. Here are some of the key       players:              Booster Rockets:              Saturn V: The Saturn V rocket was built by Boeing (formerly North American       Aviation) and Douglas Aircraft Company (now part of Boeing).       S-IC: The S-IC (first stage) was built by Boeing.       S-II: The S-II (second stage) was built by Douglas Aircraft Company.       S-IVB: The S-IVB (third stage) was built by Douglas Aircraft Company.              Modules:              Command and Service Module (CSM): The CSM was built by North American Aviation       (now part of Boeing).       Lunar Module (LM): The LM was built by Grumman Aircraft Engineering       Corporation (now part of Northrop Grumman).       Apollo Telescope Mount (ATM): The ATM was built by McDonnell Douglas (now part       of Boeing).              Other contributors:              **NASA**: **NASA** was responsible for the overall design, development, and       testing of the Apollo spacecraft and rockets.       Marshall Space Flight Center: The Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville,       Alabama, was responsible for the development of the Saturn V rocket.       Manned Spacecraft Center: The Manned Spacecraft Center (now Johnson Space       Center) in Houston, Texas, was responsible for the development of the CSM and       LM.              These companies and organizations worked together under **NASA**'s guidance to       design, develop, and test the Apollo spacecraft and rockets, which       successfully landed astronauts on the Moon in 1969.              =====              Morton Thiokol was a major player in the development of the Apollo program,       particularly in the production of the solid rocket boosters.              Solid Rocket Boosters:              Morton Thiokol: Morton Thiokol (now part of Northrop Grumman) was responsible       for building the solid rocket boosters (SRBs) for the Space Shuttle program,       but they also contributed to the Apollo program.              Thiokol's contribution to Apollo: Thiokol produced the solid rocket motors for       the Apollo program, including the Reactor-in-a-Box (RIAB) solid rocket motor,       which was used in the Apollo launch escape system.              Thiokol's role in the Space Shuttle program:              SRB development: Thiokol developed and produced the SRBs for the Space Shuttle       program, which were used to provide additional thrust during launch.              Thiokol's involvement with **NASA**:              **NASA contractor**: Thiokol was a major contractor for **NASA**, providing       various components and systems for the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs.       Long-term partnership: Thiokol had a long-term partnership with **NASA**,       dating back to the 1950s, and continued to work with the agency on various       projects.              Morton Thiokol's contributions to the Apollo program were significant, and       their expertise in solid rocket propulsion played a crucial role in the       success of the program.                            =============================================================================              "Trump Derangement Syndrome" Is a Real Mental Condition              All you need to know about "Trump Derangement Syndrome," or TDS.              "Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a mental condition in which a person has       been driven effectively insane due to their dislike of Donald Trump, to the       point at which they will abandon all logic and reason."              Justin Raimondo, the editorial director of Antiwar.com, wrote a piece in the       Los Angeles Times in 2016 that broke TDS down into three distinct phases or       stages:              "In the first stage of the disease, victims lose all sense of proportion. The       president-elect's every tweet provokes a firestorm, as if 140 characters were       all it took to change the world."              "The mid-level stages of TDS have a profound effect on the victim's       vocabulary: Sufferers speak a distinctive language consisting solely of       hyperbole."              "As TDS progresses, the afflicted lose the ability to distinguish fantasy from       reality."              The Point here is simple: TDS is, in the eyes of its adherents, the knee-jerk       opposition from liberals to anything and everything Trump does. If Trump       announced he was donating every dollar he's ever made, TDS sufferers would       suggest he was up to something nefarious, according to the logic of TDS.       There's nothing - not. one. thing. - that Trump could do or say that would be       received positively by TDSers.              The history of Trump Derangement Syndrome actually goes back to the early       2000s - a time when the idea of Trump as president was a punch line for late-       night comics and nothing more.              Wikipedia traces its roots to "Bush Derangement Syndrome" - a term first       coined by the late conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer back in 2003.       The condition, as Krauthammer defined it, was "the acute onset of paranoia in       otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency - nay -       the very existence of George W. Bush."              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
